Filler substances can be injected into the skin to fill depressed lines or scars as well as enhance the lips. They are commonly used to enhance the lower third of the face. The most common applications include filling the "marionette lines" between the upper lip and cheek as well as augmenting the upper and lower lip. Commonly used fillers include:

Restylane®: This FDA-approved filler is made up of hyaluronic acid, a substance normally present in the skin. Its effects last about six to  12 months.  For more information about this product, please click on the blue highlighted link above for Restylane.

Collagen: is a human-type collagen called Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm. These treatments last about three to  six months.
