Stem Cell Initiative

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center announces the formation of a stem cell initiative to be headed by Dr. Eric Olson, Chairman Department of Molecular Biology, Dr. Luis Parada, Director Center for Developmental Biology, and Dr. David Garbers, Director Cecil H. & Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences.  Recruitment of new faculty actively involved in stem cell research, a special seminar series that concentrates on stem cell biology, a graduate student elective covering the latest topics in germ and stem cell biology, and a core instrumentation facility designed specifically for stem cell biologists will be major features of the initiative.

The Medical Center has recently committed a significant level of funds to promote the stem cell program and stem cell research at UTSWMC.
