In our last meeting, we were lectured by John Richmond, M.D., Associate Professor of Family & Community Medicine, Nicole Wineriter, a 4th year medical student, and Diana Dickschat, a 4th year medical student. They explained the goals needed for a career as a physician.  For instance, one of the interesting facts mentioned was to take Spanish over Latin.  This is because in Texas, you need a working knowledge of the language to effectively communicate with many of your patients.  Another would be to ensure that you like solving problems because that is what you will be doing while you're a doctor. He was also able to talk to us about the four years of medical school and what to expect with each new year.

Our activity for the evening was to learn about the lub-dub cycles of the heart and how to use stethoscopes.  We practiced the newly learned techniques on each other.

Special Thanks to Dr. Richman, Nicole Wineriter, and Diana Dickschat for spending the time to educate the members about how to take a path to success. As well as putting a highly entertaining program for us.
