STARS, in collaboration with the Exploring Division of Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America, has started a program for youth who are interested in health and science careers.

Exploring is Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 through 20 years old.  No other Scouting experience is necessary to participate in the Exploring program.  It is designed to help teenagers make educated decisions about their future by allowing them to gain practical experience in different career fields.

The Exploring group, or "post", meets once a month during the school year in the evenings on our campus, and is organized by a core group of UT Southwestern volunteers and parents of student participants.  In addition to regular post meetings, students are invited to take advantage of social activities put on by the Scouting Circle Ten Council.

The Exploring program adds a unique feature to UT Southwestern that will directly benefit the local community and attract young adults to our school who may be future students or employees.  More adult volunteers and student members are always needed, so please contact STARS for more information on how to participate. Our meetings are tentatively scheduled for the last Monday of each month (date adjusted for holidays) in Meeting Room D1.200 from 6pm-7:30pm.

More information about the Exploring program can be found at their website www.exploringcareers.net
