| On June 1, STARS kicked off its 1999 Summer Research Program for Teachers and Students. At this time, 10 secondary science teachers from around the Metroplex and 12 high school juniors from the Dallas ISD and started an eight-week summer internship working in research laboratories on the UT Southwestern Campus and affiliated institutions. Under the guidance of a faculty host, participants complete a research project and presented their findings at the end of the summer.
