Mark DeHaven, PhD, Chair
Dr. DeHaven is Professor and Chief of the Division of Community Health Sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His research interests include Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR), the underserved, and faith-health collaborations.
Kathryn Cardarelli, PhD, MPH
Dr. Cardarelli is Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the Center for Community Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth School of Public Health. Her research interests include policy and methods related to population health, and health disparities and community-based research.
Roberto Cardarelli, DO, MPH
Dr. Cardarelli is Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Executive Director for the Division of Research at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth School of Public Health. He is also the Executive Director and Founder of the Primary Care Research Institute (PCRI) and NorTex, a practice-based research network (PBRN). His research interests include chronic disease management, evidence-based reviews, and health disparities in point-of-care practice.
Margaret Caughy, ScD
Dr. Caughy is Associate Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Her research interests include child development, parenting, poverty, maternal and child health, and program evaluation, particularly in urban neighborhoods.
Glenn Flores, MD
Dr. Flores is Professor and Director of General Pediatrics, the Judith and Charles Ginsburg Chair in Pediatrics, and the Director of the Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas. His research interests include racial/ethnic disparities in children's health and health care and community-based interventions for improving the health and healthcare of underserved children.
Anne Freeman, MSPH
Anne Freeman is Assistant Professor in Health Care Sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and directs the Community Prevention and Intervention Unit. Her current research is in the area of HIV epidemiology and behavioral risks.
Georita Frierson, PhD
Dr. Frierson is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Southern Methodist University. Her research interests include cancer prevention, education, and survivorship.
Nora Gimpel, MD
Dr. Gimpel is Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and Director of Community Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Her research interests include family and community medicine and public health.
Rebecca Gruchalla, MD PhD
Dr. Gruchalla is Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Her primary research efforts are related to pediatric asthma.
Ethan Halm, MD, MPH
Dr. Halm is Professor and the Walter Family Chair in Internal Medicine, and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Chief of the Division of Outcomes and Health Services Research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His research interests include understanding the patient, provider, and system factors that influence the quality and outcomes of care.
Mamta Jain, MD, MPH
Dr. Jain is Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Her research interests include HIV related mortality.
Amit Khera, M.D., MSc
Dr. Khera is Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His research interests include primary and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease.
Simon Craddock Lee, PhD, MPH
Dr. Lee is Assistant Professor in the Division of Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His research interests include medical anthropology and research ethics.
Karem Shuval, PhD
Dr. Shuval is Assistant Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health. His research interests include physical activity epidemiology and promotion, community-based research, and public health and program evaluation.
Celette Sugg Skinner, PhD
Dr. Skinner is Professor and Chief of the Division of Behavioral and Communication Sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Skinner’s research interests include the development and evaluation of communication interventions designed to encourage change in health-related behaviors and early detection of cancer among minority populations in both community and clinic-based settings.
Alexa Stuifbergen, PhD, RN, FAAN
Dr. Stuifbergen is Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in Underserved Populations at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Dr. Stuifbergen’s research interests are in addressing health promotion and quality of life for persons with chronic and disabling conditions.
Carlos Tirado, MD
Dr. Tiado is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His interests include clinical and translational research on addiction.
Jasmin Tiro, PhD

Madhukar Trivedi, MD
Dr. Trivedi is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Mood Disorders Research Program and Clinic at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. His research interests include neurobiology and psychopharmacology of depression and bipolar disorder.
