Reason for systematic data collection; types of databases; selection of data management system; design of research databases; methods of data acquisition; design of case report forms, forms for data entry; methods of display and filtering; creation of tables and relationships; quality assurance/quality control; monitoring; auditing. Course objectives are:
- Become aware of data collection and data management considerations when planning and executing a clinical trial.
- Practice techniques learned using a simple protocol example.
- Learn what tools and procedures will avoid problems.
- Interact with experienced practitioners

Credit: 1 hour, required for Master's degree program students
Grading Criteria: Pass/Fail; The following requirements must be met to pass this course: attendance at a minimum of 12 lectures (80% of the total lectures), all (100%) of all homework assignments turned in, and a passing grade on the final exam.
