The right fit can make all the difference in the world, and that’s especially important for kids, who keep growing and changing. This week on Health Watch, we’ll talk about some areas where you may need to make sure your child is getting the right fit.

If you have teenagers, there’s a good chance that their vision isn’t being corrected properly. Teenagers are among the groups most likely to have vision problems, and studies have found that more than 10 million Americans have vision problems that aren’t corrected. Dr. Dwight Cavanaugh, chairman of ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, says this is a good reminder that everyone needs to schedule regular vision exams. Children should get their eyes checked before they start kindergarten and then every two or three years. That will ensure they get corrective lenses when they need them.
