Health Watch is a Public Service of the Office of News and Publications  and is intended to provide general information only and should not replace the advice of a medical professional. You should contact your physician if you have questions about any of these topics.

This week on Health Watch, we’ve been talking about how a registered dietitian may be able to help you. If you’re one of the millions of Americans trying to lose weight, or if you have particular health conditions that may be affected by your diet, a registered dietitian can be valuable. But even if you aren’t having problems, you also may want to educate yourself about nutrition so you can maintain your health.

There are a lot of nutrition myths out there, and there are also confusing food labels and challenges such as eating on the road or with a busy lifestyle, and a registered dietitian can help you make sense of it all. You may also be confused about conflicting nutritional advice you’ve heard. Bernadette Latson, a registered dietitian at UT Southwestern Medical Center, says she and her colleagues are the ones who can help you achieve diet success and a healthy lifestyle. To find a registered dietitian, visit www.eatright.org.
