Health Watch is a Public Service of the Office of News and Publications and is intended to provide general information only and should not replace the advice of a medical professional. You should contact your physician if you have questions about any of these topics.

Fashion magazines and department store cosmetics departments are full of products — usually expensive ones — designed to give you younger, smoother, healthier skin. But doctors at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas say you don't have to spend a lot of money on designer-label products with fancy marketing and celebrities to keep your skin looking good.

Dr. Sarah Weitzul, an expert on cosmetic dermatology at UT Southwestern says you should resist the temptation to shell out big bucks on "hope in a bottle." Instead, there are some basic products that may not even be very expensive that will give you results that are just as good, if not better. This week on Health Watch, we'll be talking about what you need to keep your skin looking fresh and young.
