This week on Health Watch, we're talking about food and what goes into a healthy diet. It may be spring on the calendar, but we haven't yet reached the peak season for fruits and vegetables.

Dr. Scott Grundy, director of the Center for Human Nutrition at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, says you can still find good nutritional choices in the off- season. Look for dark green, leafy vegetables instead of iceberg lettuce as a basis for your salads. Iceberg lettuce is low in calories, but it's also low in nutrition. Spinach and cabbage are good choices that offer more value. Citrus fruits are in season, and they are a good source of vitamin A.

These days, food is imported from all over the world, so you can find good fruits and vegetables at any time of year.
