This week on "Healthwatch," we've been talking about weight issues for children and how parents can help their children lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. Nutrition experts at UT Southwestern Medical Center say snacks are a good way to add variety to a child's diet. It can be hard to get children to eat snacks other than chips, cookies and candy. But, dry cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables, or peanut butter and crackers with a glass of milk are a healthy alternative.
The important thing is to help children learn about nutrition so they can make better food choices for themselves as they grow older.
