At this time of year, many of us make resolutions to exercise more often. And many of us quickly fail in that resolution. It's a difficult time of year to get into an exercise routine. The cold, wet weather makes it too tempting to stay inside.

Exercise experts at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas say you can help yourself stick to a routine by having contingency plans for days you can't run or walk outside. Join a fitness center or grab a friend and go walking in a mall.

As long as you're exercising vigorously and the temperatures aren't too cold, wet weather doesn't have to keep you indoors. Just wear clothing that protects you from wind chill and make sure the fabrics next to your body breathe so that heat doesn't build up.
