  • Eligibility

The candidate must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.

The candidate must commit to fulfilling all requirements for board certification in his/her respective specialty and subspecialty.

The chairperson of the sponsoring department must commit to funding the clinical portion of the fellowship training.

  • Timeline

Candidates may apply to the program at any time following the successful completion of an internship and the start of a subspecialty fellowship. In most instances, individuals who have begun the investigative phase of fellowship training are not eligible. The application and all supporting documentation must be complete and submitted for consideration no later than December 1 of the year preceding the desired start of funding.

  • Guidelines

Decisions regarding suitability for clinical training and the Physician Scientist Training Program are made independently; however, a commitment for clinical training from the appropriate clinical program is a prerequisite for an interview with the PSTP.
