The Physician Scientist Training Program is designed to provide highly individualized research training and career development counseling for young physicians who desire careers as physician scientists. Each fellow’s program will be specifically tailored to his/her area of investigative interest. In addition to a clinical fellowship director, each fellow will have a scientific mentor who will be carefully selected based on the fellow's research interests and career objectives with input from the program's director and co-directors. The scientific mentor will be fully committed to the PSTP fellow's success, providing laboratory space, equipment, supplies and, most importantly, scientific guidance and an environment in which the fellow's initiative and creativity can flourish. In addition to the individual mentorship, fellows will be encouraged to attend seminars and participate in formal courses offered by the graduate and medical schools.
