In addition to the clinical research studies, we also offer special therapy programs including:

GaitRite System
The GAITRite system allows for the measurement of spatial and temporal parameters of gait.  To accomplish this, the GAITRite system utilizes a 12-foot electronic walkway that contains multiple sensors.  Due to the unique design of the GAITRite system, patients are not required to wear any additional devices and may use assistive devices such as crutches, walkers, and canes while walking.  Information that is collected as the patient ambulated across the walkway includes the geometry of the footfall, including an index of applied pressure of each footfall.  Additionally, speed, distance, and step length characteristics are calculated independently for left and right limbs.  The GAITRite system supports a variety of analyses and can generate summary reports of collected data.

Dynamic Electromyography
Dynamic Electromyography (EMG) is used to determine the timing and relative intensity of the muscular effort during gait.  This procedure is essential in evaluating spastic disorders in which muscle timing and intensity may be abnormal due to poor motor control, muscle weakness, or obligatory posturing.  Abnormal muscle timing may be identified from the EMG record as premature, prolonged, continuous, delayed, absent, or out of phase.  Dynamic EMG is essential in planning tendon transfers and releases in patients with upper motor neuron lesions such as cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.

EMG analysis software can then be used to quantify and identify any abnormalities in the timing patterns of the EMG signals.

Physical Therapy Services
In addition to the services listed above, traditional therapy services are also provided with access to modalities and a complete gym.  Consultation with other professional services, such as prosthetics, orthotics, and durable medical equipment are available.
