Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 72 hours of collection. For accurate quantification, delivery on the same day of collection is highly recommended. If available, a hematopathology report and H&E slide should accompany the specimen.

Peripheral Blood (preferred): 5 mL whole blood in EDTA preferred.  Send specimens at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Bone Marrow:  2 mL bone marrow in EDTA preferred.  Send specimens at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Rejection Criteria

Clotted peripheral blood or bone marrow. Specimens drawn in heparin will be rejected due to heparin's inhibitory nature to Taq Polymerase.
