Description
PCR assay to detect one of the viruses that can cause Roseola.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 72 hours of collection (48 hours for ACD).

Peripheral Blood: 1 mL whole blood in EDTA preferred. ACD is acceptable. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Bone Marrow: 1 mL bone marrow in EDTA preferred. ACD is acceptable. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Rejection Criteria
Clotted peripheral blood or bone marrow. Thawed tissue or fluid specimen. Specimens drawn in heparin will be rejected due to heparin's inhibitory nature to Taq Polymerase.
