Description
PCR assay to quantify viral load of Hepatitis C in order to plan and monitor treatment. Detection limits: lower 50 IU/mL, upper 17,500,000 IU/mL

Specimen Requirements

2 mL EDTA  plasma (ACD plasma is acceptable).  Specimen must be spun within 6 hours of collection to remove plasma from the cells.  Plasma may be stored at 2-8°C for up to 72 hours or frozen at -70°C or colder for up to 6 weeks.  Send specimen frozen and on dry ice.

Rejection Criteria
Serum or specimens collected in heparin.  Plasma left on cells for >6 hours.
