Specimen Requirements

Delivery on the same day of collection is highly recommended. Specimen must arrive within 72 hours of collection (48 hours for ACD). If available, a hematopathology report and H&E slide should accompany the specimen.

Peripheral Blood: 1 mL whole blood in EDTA preferred. ACD is acceptable. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Bone Marrow: 1 mL bone marrow in EDTA preferred. ACD is acceptable. Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack (April - October).

Rejection Criteria
Clotted peripheral blood or bone marrow. Specimens drawn in heparin will be rejected due to heparin's inhibitory nature to Taq polymerase.
