Description
|
Occasionally, physicians wish to submit specimens for possible immunophenotyping, depending on the results of permanent sections expected the next day. In these cases, please check "Process & Hold" on the requisition. As flow cytometric testing requires fresh, unfixed specimens, this procedure allows the laboratory to process a specimen in an appropriate manner and store it up to 3 days. A processing fee may be charged. The processed specimen will generally remain viable for 2-3 days, during which time the physician may contact the laboratory to request immunophenotyping or cancel testing. |
