 Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases
The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center at Dallas is seeking new faculty members at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor levels.  Faculty will be expected to develop independent and externally funded independent research programs that focus on understanding the molecular pathogenesis of infectious diseases and/or host defense mechanisms.  Preference will be given to applicants performing “cutting-edge” research on medically important pathogens, emerging pathogens, and/or agents of potential biothreat.  Excellent opportunities exist for collaborations with faculty members in Infectious Diseases, the Department of Microbiology, and the Center for Immunology at UTSW and with the Regional Center of Excellence (RCE) for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases.  UTSW is an outstanding scientific environment with established strengths in structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and numerous other areas.  Candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research training of Infectious Diseases fellows.  The position offers an attractive start-up package and laboratory space.  Candidates should have an M.D. and/or a Ph.D. degree with at least two years of postdoctoral experience and an outstanding publication record.  Internal Medicine/Nephrology
Division of Nephrology seeks MD and/or PhD for Assistant Professor who will establish a research program in podocyte biology and glomerular disease. We seek individuals who will take advantage of the considerable scientific and clinical resources at UT Southwestern to help build a multidisciplinary program dedicated to glomerular biology and disease. Investigators with expertise in podocyte cell biology, extracellular matrix, and/or genetics are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidate will participate in the educational and clinical activities (if appropriate) of the division.  Internal Medicine/Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases
The Division of Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases of the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking an exceptional early career investigator for a tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level. The applicant should have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and should be fully trained in internal medicine and endocrinology/metabolism/diabetes. In addition, the applicant must demonstrate commitment to a career in independent patient-oriented research and should be capable of supervising and establishing an independent laboratory research program. We are particularly interested in individuals investigating the genetics, pathophysiology, and therapy of various types of lipodystrophies and other insulin resistant states. The individual accepted for this position will have limited clinical responsibilities. The appointment includes a competitive salary and laboratory space in a dynamic research environment.  Internal Medicine/Simmons Cancer Center
The Komen/UT Southwestern Breast Cancer Research Program is seeking to appoint an exceptional translational scientist to a tenure-track position in the Department of Medicine and the Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The preferred candidate would have a Ph.D., M.D., or combined degree and a publication record in laboratory-based research with relevance to breast cancer prevention or treatment. The successful candidate will join an active and growing multi-disciplinary breast cancer program and will be expected to develop an independent research program that translates innovative laboratory approaches to the bedside. Active collaborations with scientists and clinical investigators throughout the Cancer Center and University as well as significant interactions with the clinical trials program and/or tissue bank resources are expected. A competitive salary, assigned lab space and access to Cancer Center core resources will be provided.  Neurology / Neuroscience
The Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is recruiting neuroscientists at the Assistant Professor through Professor level, although only first-time Assistant Professors are eligible for consideration for an Endowed Scholar position.  Candidates should have an MD, PhD or equivalent and have outstanding potential for directing an independent laboratory.  Recruitment in the areas of neurodegenerative disorders, neuronal regeneration / repair, functional brain imaging, and learning / memory is desired, but qualified candidates in other areas of neurological science will also be considered.  New laboratory space and start-up funds are available as well as the opportunity for new investigators to compete for the UT Southwestern Endowed Program for Scholars in Biomedical Research.  Send a statement of research interests, curriculum vitae and two letters of reference to Stephen C.  Obstetrics/Gynecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is seeking a scientist with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree to compete for the UT Southwestern Endowment for Scholars in Biomedical Research program and a tenure-accruing Assistant Professor position. The successful scholar will receive $700,000 (over four years) to launch an independent research program. To be considered, an applicant must have (1) two or more years of postdoctoral training in laboratory-based research with relevance to female reproductive biology or gynecologic disorders and malignancies, (2) peer-review publication of results, and (3) present a brief plan for research relevant to female health. The successful candidate will spend the majority of his/her time in research but will also contribute to the educational mission of the Department. Active collaborations with laboratory scientists and clinical investigators within the Department and University are encouraged.  Ophthalmology
The Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center announces an opening for an Assistant Professor to join clinician science faculty members who are housed in a recently renovated, modern retinal research lab. We seek an individual with a Ph.D., with strengths in molecular biology or molecular genetics and established interest in retinal degenerative disease (e.g., age-related macular degeneration or vascular disease).  Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is seeking outstanding clinical researchers in psychiatry, with research interests in several areas including human genetics, brain imaging, cognitive neuroscience, and experimental clinical pharmacology. We are particularly interested in recruiting experts in mood disorders in women, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and autism. The successful candidates will have an M.D. (or M.D.-Ph.D.) degree, Board eligibility/certification in psychiatry, and postdoctoral clinical research experience; outstanding potential for acquiring external funding to maintain an active, independent research program; and work effectively within a highly multidisciplinary and collaborative research group.
