The McDermott Center for Human Growth & Development is a research center of UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas focusing on human genetics, automated DNA sequencing, advanced biotechnology and bioinformatics, and genetic causes of human disease. Our Center often has paid and unpaid intern positions available in one of our research laboratories. Candidates must be available to work 15-19 hours per week. We seek candidates pursuing a degree and course work in any of the of the following areas with a GPA of 2.8 or higher:
- Computer Science - requires knowledge in one or more of the following areas: UNIX, Perl, C, some system administration and web programming experience o Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Physics
- Biology - preference will be given to candidates with an interest and course work in molecular biology and/or genetics.
Trainees will receive extensive training over a 6 to 12 month period. This research effort is expected to result in work suitable for publication in appropriate internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
