Medical Genetics

The Medical Genetics Program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is accredited for physician training in Medical Genetics by the ACGME. Postdoctoral laboratory training in Clinical Cytogenetics is accredited by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).

The Program is administered and supported through the McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development and is directed by Lewis J. Waber, M.D., Ph.D. Support is also provided through the departments of Pediatrics, Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Fellows will gain clinical exposure through active participation in a wide variety of clinics, conferences, and clinical laboratory activities.

The programs require two years of clinical training and offer fellows the opportunity to work with clinicians and scientists whose interests in genetics are quite diverse. A third year of research training may be considered depending on funding availability.
