Medical Student Education
Fourth year medical students may spend a four (4) week rotation on the renal service. They learn renal physiology, fluids and electrolyte therapy, evaluation and treatment of hematuria, proteinuria, and chronic and acute renal failure. Students spend their mornings in the inpatient service evaluating consults and their afternoons in the outpatient renal clinic. Students are encouraged to attend the renal clinical and physiology conferences while on their elective.
