 Educational Goals for Residents
 Children's Medical Center

The following are the educational goals for the Continuity of Care clinic:

  • Residents will provide primary medical care to normal children and adolescents as well as those with special needs.

  • Comprehensive health care will be provided to CCC patients including both health maintenance and acute care visits.

  • Pediatric residents will learn "well child care" - including screening procedures, routine immunizations, normal development, nutritional management, common behavior issues, anticipatory guidance, and family systems.

  • Residents will gain experience in dealing with children and families having chronic medical conditions, psycho-social problems, and/or physical disabilities.

  • Residents will develop interpersonal and management skills. They shall learn to work with allied health professionals, school systems, and child-centered community programs.

  • Residents will become aware of child and family-centered community issues. They should learn community needs and resources.

  • Residents will be exposed to research issues in general pediatrics.

  • Residents will learn how to structure a pediatric practice to address the needs of children in a community.
