The goals for pediatric residents rotating on the pediatric cardiology inpatient service are the following:

To develop competency in managing patients with:

congestive heart failure
-
cyanotic heart disease
-
Kawasaki's disease
-
cardiac arrrhythmias

The resident should be able to recognize from the ECG the rhythm and signs of hypertrophy.

The resident should be able to interpret a chest x-ray and recognize cardiomegaly, increased or decreased pulmonary vascular markings and aortic arch location.

The house officer should be able to interpret the hemodynamic findings on a cardiac catheterization report.
