The neuroradiology service at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas offers both diagnostic and therapeutic neuroradiology. The highly experienced, broad-based faculty includes specialists in head and neck radiology, spine radiology, magnetic resonance imaging, and interventional neuroradiology.
Services include not only standard neuro CT and MR imaging, as well as diagnostic myelography, angiography, and discography, but also catheter-based treatments such as cerebral aneurysm coiling, carotid and cerebral angioplasty and stenting, and procedures for dissolving blood clots in stroke.
In spine radiology, diagnostic biopsies are offered, as well as vertebroplasty (injection of glue material into vertebral bodies to help control back pain and osteoporosis) and facet injections. Percutaneous biopsies in head and neck radiology are also performed.
The Neuroradiology Division is engaged in research activity in many of the above-mentioned areas, as well as patient studies in conjunction with clinical services on the campus. In addition, a research angiography lab is maintained. MR imaging research includes functional MR imaging and spectroscopy.
Formal fellowship training programs are offered in diagnostic neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology. Additional research and training opportunities exist on an individual basis via discussion with faculty members.
Outpatient clinics for both the spine and interventional services are held weekly. Patients wishing to be seen or physicians wishing to refer patients for possible diagnostic or therapeutic services should contact our office at (214) 648-3928.
