HIV Testing & Counseling Programs
The HIV testing clinic of the Community Prevention and Intervention Unit offers free confidential or anonymous HIV testing to anyone over 12 years of age. All results are available within 5-7 business days. Results cannot be given over the phone. Individuals seeking to get tested and/or get their results must make an appointment.
Street Outreach Prevention Efforts
The Community Prevention & Intervention Unit maintains a mobile HIV testing/research vehicle. HIV prevention program workers take the vehicle out twice a month into communities where there is high risk behaviors to offer free HIV testing and risk reduction counseling services. Referrals for STDs, Hepatitis testing, and social services are available to individuals requesting information and/or when necessary.
Community Involvement
The Community Prevention and Intervention Unit collaborates with many local agencies and organizations in efforts to serve at risk populations in multiple settings, such as individuals within substance use/abuse clinics, homeless shelters, incarcerated/recently released facilities, community college campuses, and monolingual/bilingual populations.
