Institutional Compliance Hot Line
As you know, the University ethics policy requires all employees to be alert to possible violations of law and non-compliance with established policies and procedures. Programs have been established for employees to report any potential violations. In addition to reporting concerns to management, you may contact:
-
Human Resources for issues regarding employment, equal opportunity or discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, veteran’s status, or disability,
-
Environmental Health & Safety for situations involving workplace safety, including chemicals, radioactive isotopes and fire safety,
-
Internal Audit for financial issues,
-
Billing Compliance for medical billing and coding issues, and
-
University Police for criminal activities.
If you are aware of any information indicating someone in the University is violating a Federal or State law, not complying with established policies and procedures, or not performing their job in accordance with the ethics policy, you are encouraged to report the situation to the appropriate University department.
In addition, the University has contracted with EthicsLine, an independent organization, to receive employee calls regarding issues of non-compliance with Federal and State laws as well as U. T. System and University policies and procedures.
If you do not feel that it is appropriate to report the situation internally, or if you have concerns of confidentiality, you are encouraged to call EthicsLine at 1-877-507-7319. EthicsLine is operated 24 hours a day by Certified Fraud Examiners and trained professionals. You can anonymously report any information regarding possible legal or regulatory violations on the part of the University or its employees.
EthicsLine TMwill relay the information back to University senior management, where the proper course of action will be determined.
We are aware that the vast majority of our faculty and staff perform their jobs in a professional and ethical manner. In those few instances where exceptions may exist, you are strongly encouraged to report the situation either internally, or to EthicsLine.
