The robotic and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) specialists at UT Southwestern Medical Center can offer patients safe and effective alternatives to conventional surgery and radiation therapy. Also commonly known as "laparoscopic" surgery, MIS has benefits that include a reduction in postoperative pain, shorter recovery time, minimized hospital stay and less impact overall on a patient's life.
UT Southwestern is home to some of the most respected MIS surgeons in the world. Our physicians provide world leadership for minimally invasive kidney tumor ablation. We also performed the first laparoscopic prostatectomy in North Texas and have the most experience in laparoscopic urologic cancer surgery in North Texas.
Robotic surgery is the newest development in the area of minimally invasive treatments, and our surgeons perform robotic procedures in our state-of-the art facility at UT Southwestern University Hospital - Zale Lipshy.
Our physicians use MIS to treat a variety of disorders. MIS techniques are tailored to the needs of the urologic patient to offer treatments that meet the standard of care set by conventional methods.
