Musculoskeletal :: Conditions and Illnesses

About Our Program | Conditions and Illnesses | Our Physicians | Patient Education Materials | Support Groups and Resources

Physicians and rehabilitation therapists treat musculoskeletal conditions caused by injury or an underlying illness such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, osteoporosis or pulmonary illnesses. Individuals who have had surgery for a joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder or ankle), fracture repair, spine care or a sports injury also benefit from rehabilitation, which helps reduce pain as well as increase flexibility and mobility.

Our caring and compassionate specialists attentively listen to each patient’s concerns and needs and prescribe the appropriate rehabilitation program that allows every patient to achieve the best possible results from therapy. Symptoms of a musculoskeletal disorder include aches, cramps, limitation of movement, pain, soreness, stiffness, swelling or weakness.

Patients can play a major role in deriving all of the benefits that rehabilitation has to offer. Please visit the Health Library to learn more about musculoskeletal conditions and related rehabilitation treatments offered at UT Southwestern Medical Center, including:
