UT Southwestern Medical Center’s clinical and research programs for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders were established to provide patients with some of the most advanced treatments available in the U.S. Our physicians have extensive experience with patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, tremor disorders, tic disorders and dystonia.
UT Southwestern provides extensive Parkinson’s disease treatment and examination facilities. Among these are an advanced neurophysiology lab, which offers state-of-the-art autonomic testing which may be useful in diagnosing certain forms of Parkinsonism.
UT Southwestern delivers the most advanced and compassionate medical care available for patients who suffer from movement disorders. In addition, physicians lead extensive research programs that investigate the genetic and other contributing factors that lead to the development of movement disorders. Among the most important of these is a long-term National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded trail of possible neuroprotective agents for Parkinson's disease.
Our research activities receive funding from the NIH, the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA), the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
