Ocuplastic surgery is used to repair the eye after it is damaged by disease or trauma. Ocuplastic surgeons also assist other specialists, such as oncologists or plastic surgeons, as they treat the eye area. Ocuplastic surgeons at UT Southwestern Medical Center have vast experience in medically and surgically treating a variety of eye conditions.
These surgeons also provide elective cosmetic repair such as Botox treatments, laser resurfacing, power peels and plastic surgery to remove furrows on the forehead and around the eye.
Some of the conditions treated by UT Southwestern’s ocuplastics physicians include:
- Congenital disfigurements
- Droopy brows
- Droopy lids
- Eyelid and eye socket reconstruction
- Eyelid lacerations
- Eyelid repair and tissue replacement in cases related to burns, violence, auto accidents and wounds
- Orbital fractures and trauma
- Orbital tumors and cancer
- Redundant upper and lower eyelid skins
- Repair problems that interfere with the function of the eyes
- Trauma scarring
