Sleep Disorders/Snoring :: About Our Program

About Our Program | Conditions and Illnesses | Our Physicians | Patient Education Materials | Support Groups and Resources

UT Southwestern Medical Center offers patients advanced diagnostic evaluations and effective treatments for all types of sleep-related breathing disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea and chronic snoring problems.

The Sleep Disorders/Snoring Program features a team approach to treating sleep disorders and involves specialists from other disciplines as needed, including pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry and psychology.

By taking advantage of UT Southwestern’s research expertise and state-of-the-art diagnostic resources, our specialists can provide effective therapies for sleep disorders that affect breathing and other aspects of overall health. To help diagnose the patient’s condition, our specialists may prescribe a sleep study, which measures neurological, cardiovascular, breathing and muscle functions while the patient sleeps.

Our specialists use sleep studies to help determine the source of the patient’s condition and how it may be treated. A sleep study can also provide an accurate assessment of how treatment is progressing and whether treatment modifications are necessary.

At UT Southwestern, our specialists carefully evaluate each patient’s medical history, current condition and therapeutic progress to achieve the best results possible. Our team approach to evaluating each patient and providing advanced sleep therapies makes a valuable difference in improving every patient’s condition and quality of life.

Patients with sleep disorders can also be treated by our sleep and breathing disorder service.
