Purpose of the Study: To describe changes in markers of insulin resistance, weight, ECOG Performance Status, and symptoms and quality of life using the FACT-Hep scale while determining tumor response by RECIST and time to disease progression in patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer receiving pioglitazone as second line therapy.
Participant Eligibility: Eligible participants must be 18 years or older, be previously treated metastatic adenocarcinoma of the pancreas patients with disease progression after gemcitabine-based chemotherapy. Histological or cytological confirmation of pancreatic cancer at initial diagnosis is required. Must have radiologically measurable disease and ECOG performance status of 0-2, adequate bone marrow, hepatic and renal function. Interested individuals must be able to understand the nature of the study and sign informed consent, use approved contraceptive methods during the trial and three months afterwards. Spanish speaking patients are eligible for participation.
