Study Title: Exercise Therapy for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder during Pregnancy: A Feasibility Trial

Purpose of the Study: The primary aim of this research is to determine the acceptability and feasibility of 8-week moderate intensity exercise program in comparison to an 8-week low intensity exercise program in pregnant women experiencing Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The secondary aim is to determine the safety and tolerability of the moderate intensity exercise program in comparison to the low intensity exercise program.
Participant Eligibility: (a) Pregnant women ages 18 to 45 years; (b) gestational age minimum of 12 weeks, but must be within 28 weeks of becoming pregnant at the time of baseline in order to ensure at least 8 weeks of exercise;(c) diagnosed with non-psychotic Major Depressive Disorder by a Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR Axis I Disorders (SCID-IV); (c) current depressive symptom severity as measured by the HAM-D17 score of ≥ 16;(d) currently in established prenatal care
