Study Title: A Phase III, Double-Masked, Multicenter, Randomized, Sham-Controlled Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Ranibizumab Injection in Subjects With Clinically Significant Macular Edema With Center Involvement Secondary to Diabetes Mellitus.

Purpose of the Study: Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is a form of diabetic retinopathy. DME consists of swelling or edema of the macular, the central part of the retina that mediates high-resolution vision. The study investigators will assess the efficacy and safety of monthly intravitreal injections of Lucentis compared with monthly sham injections for the treatment of clinically significant macular edema with central involvement secondary to diabetes mellitus (Type 1 or Type 2).
