Clinical Trials :: Cognitive Treatment in Schizophrenia

Ad Title: Cognitive Treatment in Schizophrenia
Study Title: RCBF Correlates of Cognitive Treatments in Schizophrenia
Protocol Number: 0803-476
Department(s) involved in the Study: Psychiatry
Purpose of the Study: This research is being done because people with schizophrenia often have problems with thinking including learning, remembering, paying attention, and problem solving. During this study, we will test if cognitive remediation (computer games made to improve thinking), used along with a drug called atomoxetine, may help the problems in thinking as well as some of the symptoms of schizophrenia. We will also see how cognitive remediation and atomoxetine affect the brain by studying blood flow in the brain. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), a method used to take pictures of the brain without using radiation, will be used to see the patterns of blood flow in the brain while study participants are performing thinking tasks.
