Study Title: Comprehensive Rimonabant Evaluation Study of Cardiovascular Endpoints and Outcomes (CRESCENDO)

Department(s) involved in the Study: Internal Medicine
Purpose of the Study: To see if Rimonabant can help lower the chances of having a heart attack, a stroke, or of dying from a heart attack or stroke.
Participant Eligibility: Women or men aged 55 or over, presence of abdominal obesity, presence of MI in past 3 years, heart surgery with continued chest pain, stroke in past 3 years, or peripheral arterial disease.
Disease/Condition Under Study: Coronary heart disease and Cerebrovascular disease.
Cancer Related Study: No
