 RESEARCH OVERVIEW

The central focus of my research program is the cellular and molecular neuropathology of neurodegenerative disease, especially Alzheimer disease and related dementing disorders. Specific topics currently under investigation include (1) assessment of the role of neocortical synapse loss in production of clinical cognitive impairment, and (2) the effects of genetic risk factors for Alzheimer disease on synapse integrity.

 RESEARCH INTERESTS

Alzheimer disease
Neurodegenerative disorders
Immunohistochemistry
Tissue microarray technology
Forensic neuropathology
