Dr. Tang received his medical degree from the West China University and finished his medical internship at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital before coming to North America. After postdoctoral research fellowship training in molecular genetics and biology at the University of Toronto, he completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Tang continued his training in gastroenterology at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Subsequently, he completed a two year fellowship in advanced and therapeutic endoscopy at the St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, including one year of training focusing on endoscopic research. Dr. Tang joined the faculty at the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern in 2004. Dr. Tang’s research has generally been in the area of therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic innovations. These clinical interest and expertise is in the area of diagnosis and management of pancreatico-biliary disease and GI oncology. Dr. Tang’s clinical expertise is focused on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ablation of mucosal neoplasms including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and photodynamic therapy, GI stenting, endoscopic Zenker’s diverticulotomy, large colon polypectomy, endoscopic treatment of GI fistulas and leaks, etc. Dr. Tang provides a full spectrum of consultative and therapeutic endoscopy service, with the exception of in EUS.
