Dr. John Talmadge is a graduate of Dartmouth College (1969) and the Duke University School of Medicine (1973). He completed residency training at Duke in 1976, combining teaching and practice in Texas since that time.
Dr. Talmadge joined the U.T. Southwestern Faculty in 2000 and until 2007 was Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship training program. He continues to teach and practice as Professor of Psychiatry, and he is a senior attending psychiatrist at The Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He has also taught at five other universities in Texas.
Dr. Talmadge’s academic interests are in the areas of alcoholism, addictions, the philosophy of human nature, and the exploration of healing relationships.
