Dr. Liang was born in a small farming village of LeiYang (Hunan, P.R. China). He graduated from the second middle school of LeiYang in 1987 and attended Peking University. After graduating with a BS degree in Biochemistry in July 1991, he came to the US to study at The Ohio State University where he obtained his Ph.D degree in Biochemistry in December 1997. From 1998 to 2002, he did postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Drs. Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. From July 2002 to September 2004, he worked as a research assistant professor at Molecular Genetics Department at UT Southwestern. From September 2004 to June 2005, he did drug-discovery research as a senior scientist at Eli Lilly. Since July 2005, he has been a assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics.
