Anna Wright Stowell, Ph.D. received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993 and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1997. After a post-doctoral fellowship in substance abuse at the Dallas VA Medical Center in 1998, she went into private practice. In 2000, she joined the faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Anesthesiology and Pain Management. She served a lead role in a National Institute of Health study on acute jaw pain and is currently working at The Eugene McDermott Center for Pain Management where she is involved in clinical, research, and teaching endeavors. She is the also the primary investigator for an evaluation and treatment study of acute low back pain. She has published nineteen peer-reviewed articles and three book chapters and is continuing to actively publish.
