Jerry Y. Niederkorn is Professor and Director of Ophthalmic Research as well as Chairman of the Immunology Graduate Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has an active immunology research program and is currently serving as mentor to three Ph.D. students, all of whom are engaged in eye research. Dr. Niederkorn’s research activities have focused on: 1)the immunology of corneal transplantation; 2)the role of the immune system in controlling the growth and metastasis of intraocular melanoma; 3)vaccination studies on Acanthamoeba keratitis; and 4) immune regulation in the eye.
