 PERSONAL OVERVIEW
     
Dr. Naylor received her M.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1968. She then came to Southwestern Medical Center / Parkland Hospital and completed a residency in general surgery in 1973. Since 1974, Dr. Naylor has been a surgeon at the Bangalore Baptist Hospital, Bangalore, India. Her tenure in the mission hospital has also included work in obstetrics-gynecology, administration, organization of a residency program in surgery and three other disciplines, establishment of a nursing school, and teaching. She returned to Texas in 2002 and joined the faculty in the Division of GI/Endocrine Surgery. Her primary academic interest is the surgical education of our residents and students. She has developed The Virtual Patient Study Guide in Surgery, a problem-based web curriculum for third year medical students. She is actively engaged in research projects in the Department of Surgery. She was appointed Director of Student Education in Surgery in October 2005, having served as Associate Director beforehand. She was very instrumental in developing an elective course for students: General Surgery in a Developing Nation (India). Dr. Naylor also serves on multiple department and institutional committees. Her clinical activities are based at Parkland Hospital and include laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery.
