 PERSONAL OVERVIEW
     
Dr. Husain is currently a Professor of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine, Head of ECT Service, Director of the Neuro Stimulation Research Lab and Chief of the Geriatric Psychiatry Division at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

He is a graduate of Dow Medical College Karachi, Pakistan. He received his initial training in the United States at Stanford University, California. He completed his residency at USC and continued with research and geriatric fellowships at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina.

Dr. Husain has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in national and international scientific journals, authored several book chapters and currently serves as a reviewer for major professional journals. He is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of ECT and sits on the Grant Review Committee for Neuroscience, Conte Center and Biobehavioral Brain Research of the NIH.

Dr. Husain is involved in training, education and research in general psychiatry, aging and geriatric issues, new applications of lead placement in ECT and novel treatments of Major Depressive Disorder including Magnetic Seizure Therapy (MST), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), and Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
