My research interests involve the development of improved cryosectioning techniques for immuno-electron microscopy and fully hydrated thin sectioning for electron microscopy. Another area of interest involves stereological techniques for the measurement of cell volume, surface areas, shape and number for the quantitative evaluation of experimental cellular changes. I am currently implementing computer aided techniques for the collection of data for these sterological methods.
With the computerization of the Pathology Course we have become more involved with the development of software for the delivery of not only medical school curriculum, but for continuing education. We have begun a program in Pathology Informatics to give the residents more exposure to data bases, World Wide Web presentations, computer based presentation software, and authoring of specialized curriculum for resident's training. As changes occur in the health care industry, particularly with improving electronic communication, it is important that the residents be exposed to this rapidly changing field because of its impact on health care in the future.
