Training Requirements - The A&I training program has set out curricular requirements involving both didactic and clinical experiences.  Successful completion of the two year A&I Training Program requires: 1) attendance at mandatory educational activities, 2) acquisition of knowledge and skill as reflected by satisfactory evaluations by faculty supervisors, 3) progress on a clinical or basic science research project judged adequate by the supervising faculty member, the A&I Training Program Director and the Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology (the ABAI indicates that a 25-50% research commitment is appropriate), and 4) adherence to the administrative requirements of UT Southwestern, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Allergy and Immunology.

In addition to regularly scheduled teaching clinics and conferences, A&I fellows will provide coverage for inpatient consultative requests for three to six months per year.  Selective Rotations in Laboratory Medicine, Dermatology, Rheumatology, ENT and other specialty rotations are also an important part of A&I training.  First year fellows will have two weeks of selective rotations while 2nd year fellows will have four weeks of selective rotations to choose from.
